In the aftermath of World War II, the Belgian military developed the simple, yet effective M51 Gas Mask to defend against the horrors of the evolving modern battlefield. Based on earlier French designs, the M51 included the Tissot system (developed by Dr. Julius Tissot in WWI) in the face-piece to reduce condensation on the eye lenses.
